Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycle is not so Simple

Many reasons will push you to choose a bicycle as a new mode of transportation. Just because you are riding a bicycle from one point to another doesn't mean it's your preferred way to travel. Engaging in exercise is one of the overwhelming reasons that a large number of individuals choose to go cycling. Some people are competitors in cycling. And some people decide that they want to take up cycling as a hobby with their family and friends. No matter your reason for needing to choose a bicycle, you need to consider a number of different things in order to choose the one that is right for you. In order to assist you in your decision, we have put together a few tips.

One thing that is usually the first on the list is the cost of the bike. This doesn't mean other things aren't important, like where you are going to ride or how often you will, but it does mean that the cost of the bicycle should be one of your main concerns.

If you are new to the bike buying business, you will see that the price can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. Don’t worry if you do not have this much money available, there are lots of ways to cut down on the amount of money you will spend on your bicycle. You could check out bicycles that are being auctioned off and could save tons of money while getting the best bike for you. Your bicycle seat should not be at the lowest setting, which is sitting atop the crossbar. Always consider that you are going to have to raise the seat up off the crossbar when you are shopping for your bike. When you bring the seat up a few inches, you are going to have more room between the crossbar and you, and this will make for a much more comfortable ride. The goal here is to create a height with your seat so that when your pedal is at its lowest position your leg should be almost (but not quite) fully extended.

How many gears do you need? Choose according to how you’ll ride; mountainous areas require more gears than flat land areas do. Many beginning cyclists my site think that the more gears a bicycle has, the better it is. You may never have cause to use all the gears. It’s a waste of money to pay for all those unused gears. Of course, if your cycling bicycle is going to be your primary mode of transportation you might need to make sure you have enough gears to handle rough situations.

Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. If you intend to use your bike a lot, perhaps as your main method of transport, it is important you keep this in mind. You want to feel comfortable and safe as you travel from one point to another.
